Christian and her daughter joined us in early March of this year. From the moment she joined the program, Christian was like a sponge soaking up, in her words, “the wisdom the program has to offer.” There was never a question about her motivation or drive to do well, as from day one she was working two jobs. Many times staff expressed concern for her health due to limited sleep. Little did any of us know the personal challenge she would encounter as her mother became gravely ill and died. Christian took a leave of absence from work and spent three weeks nursing her mother as her health failed. Then she immediately returned to working two jobs to replenish her funds which were depleted.
Christian has now graduated into her own place. Her car is paid off which was one of her goals. She has changed positions at Hospice and can now spend more time with her daughter while she is pursuing her goal of earning an RN degree.
